The Antlers - Two

In case you don’t know, let’s get the details of this album out of the way:

Hospice tells the story of an emotionally abusive relationship, explained through the analogy of a hospice worker and terminally-ill patient. Frontman Peter Silberman has been reticent to divulge explicit details regarding the meaning of the record, and the extent to which it is autobiographical.

Well, that’s gonna be fun.  Fortunately the music is fantastic despite (with the help of?) the subject matter.

There are a couple of really, really good moments in this song.  Headphones are pretty much mandatory.

1:19: Drums and some awesome guitars.

2:56: Best lyrics of the song IMHO; painful couplet.

3:37: First mention of “two”; they bring in the bass and he runs with it.

There are half a dozen more.  This song really deserves a few listens.  The melodies, production and imagery are all excellent.

Hat tip.
